We’re a bit slow getting back up to speed after that exciting experience followed by the holidays. Once we settle on our next meeting date, we’ll get that info out asap. Maybe a ‘New Year’ potluck would be fun!

This will be a working meeting and we typically reserve the last hour for visitors and guests – from 1-2pm (we’ll verify this time as the date gets closer). 

Friday’s Potluck was great – we met two new families: Lee, Gillis, and their 2 daughters; & Allen, Jamie and their son. Since we’re at the stage of buying property, it’s nice that both families have been considering buying in our wonderful, expensive city… and hopefully they believe like we do that there’s an economy-of-scale value to buying property as a group.

one of our former members developed a vision of creating child-centered co-housing in san francisco, ultimately taking down all the fences on a city block as previous groups have done – such as (N Street Cohousing in Davis). Our current group was distilled down from some hundred or so folks who attended several of her open-invitation meetings in fall/winter 2009. Since then, the current group has been working hard creating the San Francisco Backyard Neighborhood & Learning Center community. We’ve made visioning documents, a decision making policy, a communication policy, etc…

We were using another wordpress.com site before, but we’ve recently had some restructuring in the group and thus are creating this new wordpress.com site. As of this posting, we still have a lot of info to update/import to this site. Keep checking back or subscribe to check out everything we’ve done so far.

Right now, we’re two families who are aligned in the vision we’ve created together, and we’re actively looking for property to realize the vision. We’re in the finishing stages of the mortgage pre-approval process; we’ve interviewed 4 real-estate agents and have selected one.

We’re very excited about what we’re doing, and we’re looking for more members to get the ball rolling a bit faster – critical mass is just on the horizon.We’d love to hear from you if you think you or anyone you know might be interested. Have a great day!
